The forthcoming Milky Way/Andromeda alliance
While my dreams of ever seeing the country brought back from the edge of ruin by President Arnold ‘The Govenator’ Schwarzenegger and VP Jesse ‘The Body’ Ventura grow less and less likely, it seems there’s little doubt two of my other favorite 80’s superpowers will be getting together in just a few billion years. I am, of course, talking about the Milky Way and Andromeda Galaxies, who are completely above having cutesy little air quote nicknames. Apparently, scientifical-types have been predicting this for ages (i.e., beginning in the Bronze Age), writing paper after paper about how we need to get off our collective butts and do something about it. Of course, nobody has time to read, so one enterprising fellow at the University of Toronto — one John Dubinski — made a movie:
